English Week 2026 — A Symphony of Language, Style, and Imagination

2026-02-09

From February 2nd to 6th, our school’s English Panel hosted the highly anticipated English Week 2026, taking students on a fantastic journey through music, fashion and literature. This year's celebrations blended interactive learning, creativity, and cultural appreciation, all brought to life through the English language.

The festivities began by transforming the Covered Playground into a bustling music carnival. S.2–S.4 students explored eight themed booths designed to build confidence and spark conversation.

From “Idol Interview”, where students stepped into the shoes of their favourite K-pop or J-pop stars, to “Musical Movie Mime”, where silent acting met famous scenes from Frozen, Mamma Mia! and other hits, each booth offered a unique way to use English in action. The most popular booth was undoubtedly “Friendship Bracelet Exchange”, where students unleashed their creativity and personalized their bracelets.

With each game played, students collected English stamps on their English Passport, redeemable for exciting prizes. This hands-on, playful format helped students experience English not as a subject, but as a living language of expression and connection.

On the third day, our S.1 students presented a creative project themed around the Victorian era and the world of Sherlock Holmes. From the iconic detective himself to Dr. Watson, Irene Adler, and other figures from Arthur Conan Doyle’s timeless tales, students dressed in period costumes, ingeniously using eco-friendly and recycled materials wherever possible to support sustainability and presented their characters in English, blending literature, history, and performance into one captivating showcase. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with both participants and audience thoroughly engaged. It was more than a fashion show—it was a doorway into the language and atmosphere of Victorian England.

The final two days saw the Covered Playground transform once again—this time into a reader’s paradise with our English Book Fair. Tables were lined with a wide selection of fiction, non-fiction and graphic novels, catering to every interest and reading level. Whether students were hunting for a thrilling mystery, a heartwarming romance, or inspiring real-life stories, there was something for everyone. This was the perfect chance for students to discover new authors, share recommendations with friends, and fall in love with reading all over again.

English Week is an invitation to explore, express, and connect. By integrating music, drama and design, we aim to show that English is a powerful tool for creativity. We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm our students displayed—thank you to everyone who made English Week 2026 a resounding success!
