Principal's Message

A Calling to Serve, A Mission to Excel

Welcome to the SKH Chan Young Secondary School website. Whether you are a prospective family exploring our campus, an alumnus reconnecting with your roots, or a current member of our vibrant community — students, parents, and staff — I am delighted to share our vision and direction with you.

Stepping into the role of Principal fills my heart with profound gratitude. Having walked these very halls as a student, Chan Young has always been my home. Over the past two decades, I ventured into the broader education sector, gaining invaluable pedagogical experience. Yet, God’s guidance has led me back. Returning to my alma mater is more than a professional milestone; it is a divine calling to serve my school family and to lead us with passion in the pursuit of excellence — so that every student is seen, nurtured, and enabled to flourish.

During my formative years as a student here, my journey was deeply anchored by our school scripture, Philippians 3:13-14: ‘Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal.’ It taught me that setbacks were simply stepping stones, giving me the grit to overcome challenges and reach for greatness.

Today, as I take on the mantle of Principal, this verse carries a profound double meaning. It remains my personal compass, while serving as the bold, guiding vision for our entire school community. We are committed to cultivating this growth mindset within every Chan Young student. Whether celebrating our successes or learning from challenges, we will not let yesterday define our tomorrow. We look forward, staying humble yet undefeated.

With faith and hope, our mission is to inspire our students to ‘learn to learn’ and ‘love to learn’. We are dedicated to equipping them with the resilience and confidence they need to aim high. But beyond academic and personal success, our ultimate prayer is that our students learn to serve others, using their God-given gifts to make a positive, lasting impact on their families, our society, our country, and the world.

As I watch a new generation of students walk these very same halls, my greatest hope is that they will find the same inspiration and purpose that I did, and grow — step by step — into young people of character, competence, and compassion. Working hand in hand with our outstanding teachers and supportive parents, let us ensure that every child is equipped to press on toward their goals—always moving Forward and Upward.
