Our school’s Public Speaking Team showcased exceptional talent, quick thinking, and dedication at this year's competition. Through engaging meetings designed to nurture confident communicators, our students spent time practising speech delivery, providing constructive feedback, and honing their skills in a supportive, energetic environment.

The culmination of their hard work was the EDB-hosted Inter-school Public Speaking Contest 2026, where participants addressed two timely themes: "Harmony in Diversity" and "Smart Tools, Wise Choices." Joined by fellow team members who cheered them on from the audience, our speakers delivered standout performances on stage! In the challenging Impromptu Speaking section—where speakers had a mere 30 seconds to prepare—our students brought home two major honours:

  • Hazel Leung: Won a Best Speaker Award for her speech on "Do you prefer to fit in or stand out?", drawing cleverly on her drama background to encourage others to embrace their individuality.

  • Maybess Ng: Also claimed a Best Speaker Award addressing "Are digital tools helping us think or making us lazy?" Maybess shared personal experiences of using AI for homework to argue that technology is neutral, emphasising that success depends on using it wisely.

Our students were also celebrated for their outstanding leadership:

  • Karen Huang: Received an Outstanding Contribution Award for her year-long leadership and initiative in drafting key documents for the team alongside Lance. On top of her administrative efforts, Karen also served as a co-host for the entire event, expertly introducing speakers and summarising key points after each presentation.

  • Lance Lin: Awarded an Outstanding Contribution Award in recognition of his leadership, hard work, and valuable contributions in co-drafting team documentation throughout the season.

A huge thank you to every member for their enthusiasm! If you are passionate about public speaking and want to join our dynamic team, be sure to express your interest to Ms. Betty at the beginning of the school year!
